Formulator Support Specialist
OVERVIEW:
Under minimum supervision, performs highly technical and specialized research and documentation support activities. Serves as a liaison between the Quality Control, Purchasing, R&D, and Customer Service teams. Work with team members to investigate raw material related customer complaints regarding quality and testing issues. Overtime maybe required to meet business needs.
- Advanced knowledge of soft gel and tablet formulation.
- Create raw material specifications for testing and purchasing needs in a timely manner.
- Verify existing specifications and formulas meet current requirements and are harmonized across the various RPI facilities and systems.
- Verify existing specifications and formulas meet current requirements for label claims.
- Create finished product specifications for testing and reporting needs in a timely manner.
- Update ERP system to streamline raw material code system and harmonize raw material description/name.
- Work with vendors and internal customers to obtain necessary support documentation.
- Review customer specifications for content and compliance. Enforce regulatory and nutritional supplements standards where needed.
- Respond to Customer Service inquires regarding test methodology, raw material specifications, and other technical questions submitted by customers and auditors.
- Work with vendors to gather methods and specification from raw material suppliers and create and maintain a database for the storage of contact, method, and specification information.
- Carries out lead responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and state, federal and local laws.
- Revises specification reports and test methods for raw materials and finished products.
- Writes process related Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs), policies and related reports.
- Performs physical testing such as particle size.
- Performs complex investigations for raw material investigations with associated team members.
- Participates in the training of departmental employees.
- Ensures project deadlines and performance standards are established and met.
- Ensures compliance with all Company policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations.
- Works with QC Manager to determine and implement production and quality control standards
- Adhering to FDA regulations as well as any other diet supplement industry standards products
- Customer audits and adhering to customer’s specifications for products.
- Maintains strictest standards of hygiene in production area and throughout facility
- Performs related duties as assigned.
